Neural Network Image Segmentatuion for Neural Circuit Reconstruction
The main aim of this project is to contribute towards the automated or semi-automated
construction of 3D neural models from histological data (eg. serial-section electron microscopy images).
One of the main purposes behind this effort is to accurately represent the connectivity
petween biological neurons. In this sense, the effort is much aligned with the main
motivation of Connectomics. One of the consequences of succeeding in this effort is that it will
be possible to automate most of the work flow that starts with specific biological specimen
(eg. macaque retina) and ends with computational insights pertaining to that specimen.
