Granular Computing Session
at NAFIPS-04, Banff, Alberta, Canada, June 27-30, 2004

Session overview

Recent years saw a significant increase of research emphasis on brain-like processing of information using various levels of abstraction. This has led to the formalization of the balance between accuracy and generality of information processing within the Granular Computing paradigm.

This session will attempt to focus on the leading contributions to the Granular Computing research including:

• set theoretic research (sets and interval analysis, fuzzy sets, rough sets, shadowed sets),
• granulation and clustering algorithms,
• semantical analysis of information granules,
• communication between systems described at various levels of granularity and between various granular computing frameworks
• practical applications of granular computing.

Within this context we are soliciting both technical papers and the papers addressing strategic vision of the development of Granular Computing in relation to other facets of Computational Intelligence.
