The aim of this new research project is to investigate methodological and operational issues of integrating a Geographical Information Systems with a computer-assisted traffic control scheme. This research will focus on:
- heterogeneous models cooperation (i.e. mathematical versus geographical
representations of space);
- identification of application-driven integration alternatives;
- software integration of Geographical Information Systems and Traffic
Control Systems;
- design and development of highly-coupled interfaces.
Application validation and support will be provided in the context of the predictive decision support system being developed by the Real Time Telemetry Systems research group in collaboration with the Nottingham Traffic Control Centre.
